Spring bee feed and spring pollen cake containing pheromone

Dear beekeepers, in this section, we want to explain to you the important points about bee feeding in spring (spring bee feed). We hope to take steps forward in this industry and be able to facilitate beekeeping with each other’s help.

Technical problem and statement of invention purposes

All organisms need carbohydrates and protein to survive and reproduce. Bees also use plant nectar for energy and plant pollen for protein. Part of the nectar entering the hive is consumed by the babies in the early hours and the other part is stored as honey.

All incoming pollen is stored by desert bees in wax cells in the hive. Part of it is used by bees to produce royal jelly and the other part is pressed by bees inside wax cells.

In the spring, many beekeepers use sugar syrup to feed the bees to increase the queen’s spawning and give birth to a young population. While this changes the physical and chemical properties of honey and reduces its quality. On the other hand, because sugar syrup is for the energy of newborns and nectar is abundant in nature in spring, sugar syrup does not play a major role in the spawning of the queen. While pollen plays the most important role in the spring in the hive. And a method should be used to encourage the bee to consume more pollen and increase the queen’s spawning.

The concept of nursing behavior

Bees need pollen (protein) to secrete royal jelly. Royal jelly is secreted by the mammary glands in the bee’s head. The process of producing royal jelly and feeding it to bee larvae that is performed by nurse bees is called “nursing behavior”. The higher the nursing behavior of nurse bees, the more offspring it breeds. But their lifespan is shorter. On the other hand, the less nursing behavior, the less generation, and the longer life will be.

Honey bees born in the spring can raise three generations. But their lifespan is less than 60 days. But bees born in summer and autumn raise a generation of their own; Instead, they have a longer lifespan (6 months).

Tip:

(This feed is produced to stimulate the bee to eat more pollen. Because all of it has a protein structure and is easy to digest, it enters the digestive system completely and is absorbed by a bee.

Bees are not able to store it in the form of honey and honey does not undergo physical and chemical changes. Using a pollen supplement would be more beneficial for the bee colony than a pollen substitute.)

Providing solutions to existing technical problems

The spring bee feed is produced to stimulate bees to eat more pollen. In order to do this (swallowing the pollen), we used the extract or the pheromone of male, worker, and queen larvae during their larval period. After entering the bee metabolism system, these extracts are quickly released into the body of worker bees and change their behavior and encourage them to eat more pollen.

Excessive pollen consumption causes royal jelly to secrete too much by the bee worker and male in the hive and more royal jelly is fed to the queen. As a result, the queen will spawn more and more and the population will grow rapidly. On the other hand, worker and male larvae and offspring will float on a higher level of royal jelly and their birth speed and longevity will increase.

Bee worker larvae, male and queen at the age of 6 to 10 days of larval age contain the highest amount of extract and pheromone. The extract is composed of protein, fat, and pheromone. It Contains 15% protein, 4% fat, and 77% water. The amount of Vitamin A in it is 100 times more than milk and the amount of vitamin D in it is 600 times more than vitamin D in milk.

The role of bee larvae in the treatment of various diseases

Bee larvae have many uses in epitherapy. In recent years, the consumption of male larvae has reduced autoimmune illnesses in Japan and the population of this country is increasing. The hormonal problems of men and women in Japan have been solved with the use of larval pheromones.

Mass production of bee male larvae

We can process the production and growth of bee male larvae in the spring. How? Use wax sheets with woven male cells or frames coarsely woven frames from the previous season and be fully involved in the production of quality and large male larvae. By creating a distance between the male-textured frames and the adjacent frames (about 3 mm) we can be effective in producing male cells with higher height, and finally producing larvae of larger and stronger male bees.

The larvae are collected by us and ground before they rot. Until their extract and pheromone are released as a thick white liquid. then they are dried with spray and into a creamy white powder, which is used in the production of spring bee feed.

In the picture below, the nurse bees are fed by spring bee feed. For this reason, the larvae float on a large surface of royal jelly (the white liquid on the bottom of the cells).

feeding bees in spring

In the below image, the nurse bees are not fed by the spring bee feed, so the larvae float on a small level of royal jelly.

Lack of feeding with spring bee feed

Bee male larvae at 6 to 9 days of age for pressing and eliciting extracts and pheromones.

Bee larvae to extract pheromones

What is the purpose of feeding bees using spring pollen cake?

1- Using fresh and natural pollen instead of pollen substitute compounds such as wheat gluten, corn, and soya.

2- Stimulation of bees using a larval pheromone to consume more pollen and excessive secretion of royal jelly. Which increases the queen bee spawning and the production of young bees with a longer lifespan.

3- Hives that feed by spring bee feed, breed large and quality queens and males with high sperm production potential.

4- The possibility of harvesting royal jelly from hives that are fed with spring bee feed is greatly increased.

5- This feed, because it has a protein structure, enters the digestive system and is absorbed by nurse bees. Nurse bees cannot store it in form of honey. Therefore, honey from hives fed by spring bee feed does not undergo physical or chemical changes.
